What's the difference between wax and sugar?

Wax is hot is kept hot, sugar is kept lukewarm

Wax adheres to live skin cells, which increases the chances of irritation and lifting. Sugar is water soluble, therefore cannot adhere to live skin cells

Wax grabs hair by the shaft of the hair, increasing the chances of broken hair. Sugar adheres to the hair follicle, which decreases the chance of broken hair. Sugar also damages the hair follicle, leading to thinner grow back.

Wax often contains resins and chemicals that some people are sensitive to. Sugar is made of just sugar, lemon, and water

Wax can aggravate ingrown hairs, while sugar can help lessen ingrown hairs

Wax does however pick up vellus hair (peach fuzz) very well and is recommended on places like the face and legs.
What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

Arrive clean and showered!

Take a pain reliever if it is safe for you to do so 15min before your appointment
-
Start exfoliating 3 times a week and moisturizing daily

Avoid caffeine day of

Drink water and eat day of

Most importantly: try to relax! The more anxious and tense you are, the more painful your appointment will be

Arrive with the paperwork already filled out


How long should my hair be to remove it?/Should I trim beforehand?
The hair should be at least the length of a grain of rice. This is usually 2-3 weeks after shaving.
Do not trim! Longer is better. If the hair is in fact too long, I will trim it at the studio to ensure an even, removable length.
I'm on my menstrual cycle, can I still get a brazilian?
Yes! However, you may be more sensitive. I ask that you take a pain reliever if it is safe for you to do so, and arrive clean with a fresh tampon or menstrual cup in.
If you don't use tampons or menstrual cups, please send me a message and we can try to work around your flow.
